Alpkit Gamma Headtorch review

Back sooner than I thought!
Nice snowy run last night which gave me the excuse to try out a my new head torch from Alpkit.
The Gamma was a bit of an impulse buy - persuaded by some good reviews and very reasonable price of £12.50 (with batteries included!). The main beam is slightly brighter [...]

wet run

Were did all this liquid come from? A very wet and boggy off road run this evening - around 40 minutes and not pushing it as saving myself for a geared ride around Buxton tomorrow.

Strange misty run

Very cold, off-road run this evening. There was a really thick patchy mist which seemed to linked to the faster parts of the river - never seen that before. I also learnt that running tights (Nike Dri-fit Fiament tights) are a definite improvement on wearing shorts when -4 degrees and worth 25 English [...]

Crunchy run

A lovely crunchy night run on the lingering frozen snow - legs are still feeling last weekends race.  (I really need to start measuring some distances and times to make recording any of this half useful)

Famous Grouse Fell Race

Its been a while since my last fell run,
I had forgotten how enjoyable/hard they are. Finished at the bottom third of the field (the infamous Nick Craig finished 2nd - I didn’t realize he was a fell runner as well).

Dull, cold run

Forced myself out for a run this evening as:
a. I’ve done nothing all week (night rides been called off)
b. Stretch of legs in preparation for Sunday’s Famous Grouse fell race

Leeds Abbey Dash 2008

Late traveling for the Leeds 10k on Sunday morning due to an iced up car amongst other things. Roads were already closed (for the race) and there was an accident on the diversion route so left with no option but to run to the start from Kirkstall Abbey at the 5k point (the race was [...]

Sett Valley Run

Tedious run up to Birch Vale and back along the Sett Valley trail.
I think I’ve left training to late to do a sub 1.55 at the Wimslow half marathon my lungs/cardio feel good but I don’t think my knees/feet can take it.

Road run

In my attempt to undertake some pretty much last minute training for a half marathon at the end of March I did a road run this evening - squidgy trainers still feel uncomtable hopefully just a case of my foot getting used to the squidge, as opposed to the firm ‘off-road’ shoes.
